Origin
In 2018, we set out on a journey to solve an issue we all had experienced in the past: Excessive gaming & video game addiction, also known as “Gaming Disorder”.
It all started sooner than this though...
The traumatic event
The initial Founder's Family Loss
In 2010, Christoffer Johansson lost his mother to leukemia and turned to video games as an escape from reality.
2010
The following years
A long depression
Following this traumatic event, Christoffer fell into depression and prioritized gaming above everything else, including his own health, well-being and relationships over a very long period of time.
2010-2015
New Office, CA
The peak in Gaming was reached
Most #1 scores in the world
On September 20, 2015, Christoffer achieved the most #1 scores in the world in a rhythm game called osu!, though he reached this point at the expense of his own health & well-being, still making his health and well-being the second priority.

The turnaround for better...
A change of habits
In summer 2016, Christoffer managed with a bit of luck to turn around his excessive gaming habits on his own by making changes to the environment around him. He went on his first backpacking trip and developed a travel interest, which was also how he later met Kelvin Au who had faced similar challenges in the past as well, whom he co-founded HealthyGaming with in 2018.
Summer 2016
Having experienced Gaming Disorder for many years without access to the support needed to overcome the issue creates a special understanding and endeavour within the founding team to ensure that the next generation of gamers, and those still experiencing the issue have what they need in order to successfully balance their everyday health and video gaming habits.

“I have always been interested in building and establishing something larger of my own. Knowing myself and how easily I can get attached to a game, I’m now looking to create something good for the gaming industry.”
Kelvin Au CTO
"Looking back at how heavily my mood was affected by video games, I want to take advantage of my past experience and build something which makes a positive difference for gamers from all over the world. When taking a look at our team and all of the amazing people supporting our mission, I believe in our capacity to accomplish it and I also believe in our capacity to enable others to capitalize on all advantages gaming brings, using gaming as a tool to make the world a better place."
